10th form term1 card6

  1. Why are so many plants and animal species becoming extinct nowadays?
  2. Why is it difficult to protect some endangered species, e.g. wolves or crocodiles?
  3. What can be done to protect animals in danger?
  4. What are the advantages and disadvantages of national parks?

  1.   Nowadays more and more plants and animal species are becoming extinct. First of all, many animals find it difficult to survive as their natural habitat is being destroyed by growing cities. The earth forested areas are in danger of disappearing completely as trees are burnt or cut down. Increased fishing, water, air and land pollution contribute to the extinction of many species as well. Thirdly,  illegal hunting threatens some rare species to become extinct. This process can be controlled if we protect animals in danger by law. However, some endangered species are difficult to protect, for example, wolves or crocodiles.

     3.   Furthermore, to save rare animals governments should introduce harsher punishment for illegal hunters            and raise public awarenesss about endangered species. We should also plant more forests and create            more national parks where endangered species will have a better chance of survival.

2. Most pollution in big cities comes from cars and buses. If I were the leader of my country, I would ban cars …
3. Air pollution is very dangerous because it causes acid rain which kills trees and plants. Not so long ago, most of the dry land on our planet was covered with forests. Today, most of these forests, as well as many plants and animals which used to live in them, have disappeared.
4. What is more, rare and endangered animals are hunted for their valuable fur, meat, horns and tasks. If I were the leader of my country, I would allow hunters to…
All in all, people should behave in the way which is less damaging for the ecology of our planet. If they did, this would help to reduce pollution and save life on our planet.

Card 1.Question 1.(Sample 1)

There are a lot of environmental problems which endanger our planet. For example, pollution of land is caused by chemicals from factories and power stations. As a result, the land is poisoned and when farm animals eat poisoned grass, people can get serious illnesses, drinking milk or eating meat. Then, global warming causes changing of the climate. There are a lot of fires and floods nowadays because of it. So, the Earth needs our care and help. If we don’t do it, our planet will turn into dirty rubbish.

Card 2  Question 1.(Sample 1)
1.      There are many problems which threaten our environment and can easily bring us to a global disaster. 2. What could be done to improve air pollution in big cities?
3. How could the governments solve the problem of litter in the streets?
4. Would it be a good idea to create more parks in big cities? Why?

Card 4 (Unit 11). Sample1.
Big cities have a lot of ecological problems. The most serious ones are overpopulation, lack of drinking water, the problem of rubbish, traffic noise and air pollution.
Air pollution is a serious problem as many people in big cities suffer from different illnesses because of it. We could help the situation if the governments improved public transport. Then people would leave their cars at home. Also, if people used bicycles, the cities would be less polluted. Finally, if we had more trees and green areas, we would have more oxygen to breathe.
The streets of big cities are covered with litter and look untidy. The governments could solve the problem if they put bins on every street corner. Then people would not drop litter everywhere. What is more, it would be a good idea to collect and recycle paper to save trees and forests.
There are many accidents on the roads of big cities when children are seriously injured or killed. It happens because they often play in the streets. If we created more parks, children would be able to play safely. What is more, they could spend more time in the fresh air and be close to nature.
All in all, our cities should be planned more carefully. Better public transport and rubbish collection, along with more parks and other green areas would make our cities more environmentally friendly and healthier places to live in.
