A lot of people travel by car because it’s rather convenient. They don’t have to buy tickets or to carry heavy luggage. They can stop wherever they wish and spend as much time as they like at any place.That's true, this way of travelling isn’t as comfortable and quick as travelling by plane or by train but it's cheap to take the whole family. On 31^st October I celebrated Halloween with my friends. It’s a special celebration here with games and fun. We dress up as ghosts and witches and visit people’s homes to play “trick-or-treat”. What celebration do you like best in your country? What do you do to celebrate it? How does it compare in popularity with other celebrations there?

     I’m glad you enjoyed the celebration. Halloween sounds like great fun. My favourite celebration is Maslenitsa or Pancake Day. We eat lots of pancakes, called bliny. Maslenitsa welcomes the coming of spring. At the end of the festival a figure representing winter is burnt on a bonfire.

     Other popular celebrations are New Year and Victory Day, a huge celebration with parades held on 9^th May in honour of the victory over fascists in 1945.

Many people believe that famous and rich people are happy as their lifestyle attracts a lot of attention. They look sure of themselves, they are always in the public eye, wear expensive clothes and can afford to buy whatever they want.

In fact, there are some good points in being famous and rich .To start with, you can travel a lot and stay at fabulous hotels, enjoying all modern conveniences at your service. What’s more, everybody recognizes you and you are treated with respect and admiration. Finally, you can choose and buy the most comfortable house to live in and enjoy beautiful views of nature.

As to me, I wouldn’t like to be famous because I hate crowds and noise of parties and prefer to stay in the shadows. ( I would like to be famous because I am fond of new discoveries, impressions, meeting people and doing risky things. Fame and money can make me free and independent. I feel bored when I stay at one place so travelling to far away countries by fashionable ships or fast modern planes is what I really want. It is rather expensive so I can do it only if I have enough money. If I want my dream to come true, I should be famous and rich.)
