School Life

It’s true that without being educated it’s difficult to get a good job or succeed in life. “Knowledge is power” as the proverb goes. If you are well-educated, you can generally achieve what you wish.
School plays a key role in our education as a centre of learning. It teaches us both academic subjects and practical skills. We study Maths, Literature, Russian, Science, History and Biology and we have four English lessons a week.
1 know that all subjects are important and each demands a great deal of attention, but still I don’t like the exact sciences. I spend a lot of time on doing homework instead of resting. My favourite subjects are Literature, History and English, but most of all I like History. I read a lot of books and find everyone to be absorbing and instructive.
As we spend most of our time at school, it is considered to be our second home. Really, we have to go to school six days a week and stay there from morning till evening. But in spite of all I like going to school and I always feel at home there. I like my class and always try to be on good terms with my classmates. We help each other and I feel that I can rely on my friends in difficult situations. During the breaks we speak about everything and share our secrets. It is great to have so many friends. That is why I can say I am happy at school.
. Our school offers us many after-school activities, including sports and several after-school clubs. We like to participate in different performances. Pupils from our school take part in district and city Olympiads and also in the students’ scientific conference.
It is true that our school is rather well-equipped. Many classrooms have DVDs, computers, smart boards and we use lap-tops. We help keep our school clean and tidy.
Our teachers do their best to help us study well. They explain the most difficult things in a simple way, find very good and vivid examples to illustrate new materials and answer our questions. 1 think that the knowledge I get will help me to become a generally educated person.
1.     Is it difficult or easy to study for you? Why?
2.      What makes your school life interesting?
3.      Is doing homework necessary for you? Why/why not?
-         Do you like your school?
~ Yes, I do. I like my teachers and my class.
-         What are your favourite subjects at school?
-         Most of all I like Literature because I’m very fond of reading.
-        As for me, I don’t like the exact sciences. I consider them very difficult and boring. And my favourite subject is History. It gives me a chance to link up with events and people of the past.
-         Do you have friends among your classmates?

-        Yes, I can say I am happy at school because I am on good terms with my classmates and I can always rely on them. What about you?

I’m going to talk about London, the capital and the largest city in the UK.
London is a popular tourist destination as visitors can see hundreds of beautiful sights. There are a lot of museums and galleries in London. In central London tourists can visit the main shopping areas of Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street, and the entertainment centres of Soho and Piccadilly Circus.
There are a lot of places which are a must for every visitor. The most famous landmarks include St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace which is the official residence of the Queen. Tourists shouldn’t miss the Changing of the Guard, London’s most popular spectacle.
I’d like to see Trafalgar Square, which is the geographical centre of London. Nelson’s Column in the middle of the square commemorates this national hero, who died during the Battle of Trafalgar. On the north side of Trafalgar Square there is the National Gallery, one of the finest art galleries in the world.
I think that London is a great city which has something for everyone.
