Sample answer
Youth is a period of life which is of utmost importance in the life of man. Firstly, man’s entire life is rooted in his early years. The morals and beliefs, range of interests, education, health and habits are all laid in childhood and youth, the personality is shaped. Secondly, youth is the time when a person is trying to find his place in the world.

It seems that young people have no problems as they do not have to work and care about their families. But still we have a lot of problems. The first problem is school. We have to learn a lot. Of course, it’s very important, but it’s not possible to learn all the time. After school we come home and have to study again. So, all our free time is given to studying. Only at  weekends there is a chance to relax. Moreover, we are to decide what to do after finishing school, how to be well-prepared to enter the universities or the institutes. However, there are some young people who are not motivated for studying. They start smoking, drinking alcohol and even taking drugs. They gather together doing nothing. Most often such groups of young people are involved into different crime affairs. They are always under the threat of death because of overdosing and AIDS. This problem is very serious at present.
Another problem of young people is the so-called generation gap. The generation gap is the difference in ideas, feelings and interests between older and younger people; it’s the lack of understanding. Parents give advice to young people too often and treat them as if they were still in a nappy. Sometimes parents and children don’t talk to each other, do not share their problems and do not even express their expectations and feelings. The problem of pocket money is closely connected with the problem mentioned above. Some parents are too strict and control how their “children” spend money.

I also have some of these problems. For example, my parents don’t understand the music I love and they disapprove of some of my clothes. They also want me to be more careful and attentive with my homework but I'm a basic teenager and I want to go out and have fun with my friends. Nevertheless, I try to get on well with my parents as I understand that they do love me and just worry about my future. So I try not to upset them. I think if both generations cooperate, living together will be easier and more pleasant.
